Decision making

Get Involved in the Union’s Decision-Making

As a member of the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland, you can influence decisions through your local member organization. These organizations annually elect representatives to the Union Assembly — the union’s highest decision-making body — which meets each spring and autumn.

What does the Assembly decide?

 The Assembly determines:

  • Membership fees
  • Action plans and budgets
  • Financial statements
  • Affiliation with central organizations
  • The union’s chairperson and board (every four years)

It also addresses current issues such as labor market developments, advocacy work, and proposals from member organizations.

Who can participate?

Every individual member can submit proposals via their member organization. The Assembly consists of 75 elected representatives who make the decisions. Two chairs are elected from among them for two-year terms.

The current chairs are:

  • Panu Pankakari, Savonlinnan Insinöörit ry
  • Laura Saarinen, Tampereen Insinöörit ry
