It is a good idea for an engineering entrepreneur to be a member of the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland. As an entrepreneur, you get all the services and benefits of a member, along with valuable benefits related to entrepreneurship.

All the benefits and services of the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland are also available to entrepreneur members. You will receive labor law services, working-life guides, insurance policies in accordance with the insurance terms and conditions, personal salary services and the opportunity to attend free training and seminars from top educators.

The liability insurance of the Union of Professional Engineers in Finland applies to individual members working as independent entrepreneurs who carry out assignments on their own, either full-time or part-time, without subordinates. It is also advisable for an entrepreneur member to take out entrepreneur insurance with an insurance company for their business activities.

If you are a full-time entrepreneur, it is advisable to obtain unemployment insurance through the Entrepreneur Fund.

AKY – Akavalaiset yrittäjät (Akava Entrepreneurs)

The Union of Professional Engineers in Finland is an affiliate of Akavalaiset yrittäjät (Akava Entrepreneurs) AKY. AKY offers affiliate members a more affordable service package of Suomen Yrittäjät, a discount on the service fees of both UKKO services and the OP Light Entrepreneur service, and a more affordable business account package from Holvi. All members of its affiliates who operate as full-time or part-time entrepreneurs are automatically members of AKY, and there is no need to join separately. AKY does not charge individual members a membership fee; membership is included in the Union’s membership conditions.

More affordable service package of Suomen Yrittäjät

AKY is a trade association of Suomen Yrittäjät.

Through the partnership, the entrepreneur members of affiliates can acquire the comprehensive service package of Suomen Yrittäjät for EUR 143 per year (2025).

The service package gives access to the membership benefits of Suomen Yrittäjät, but it does not include membership in its local associations. You can get the service package directly from the website of Suomen Yrittäjät.
